In most respects, Betty is your average Canadian 12-year-old: she enjoys playing in a garage band with her classmates, likes visiting her grandmother, has a crush on a friend's older brother, and regularly daydreams about becoming an astronaut and traveling to outer space. The series follows the adventures of Betty Barrett, a middle school girl from the suburbs of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The show has also aired on American airwaves, with the first two seasons airing on Cartoon Network's Miguzi block during the show's original run, and the entire series seeing airtime on The Hub years later. The series ran for 78 episodes over the course of three seasons, premiering September 2004 and ending January 2008. It was created by Trevor Bentley, Mauro Casalese, Rob Davies, and Olaf Miller, with Kevin Gillis, creator of The Raccoons, serving as developer and producer.
